Could you get a 482 visa?

About this checker.
What does the 482 visa checker do?
It works out which subclass 482 stream fits your answers: Specialist Skills, Core Skills or Labour Agreement. It then lists the issues your answers raise, each linked to the part of our 482 visa guide that explains it. You choose the occupation from the ANZSCO list, and the checker reads its Major Group and whether it is on the Core Skills Occupation List.
Does the 482 checker show whether the visa will be granted?
No. It shows which stream to look at and what to check. A grant also turns on your employer’s sponsorship and nomination, your evidence, health, character and your visa history. Those are assessed in a consultation.
Where do the occupation list and salary figures come from?
The occupations come from ANZSCO 2022 and the latest compilation of the Core Skills Occupation List instrument on the Federal Register, the same data as our occupation search. The income thresholds are the Department’s published figures: AUD 79,423 for the Core Skills stream and AUD 146,576 for the Specialist Skills stream, for nominations lodged 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.
Are my 482 checker answers stored?
No. The checker runs in your browser. We count how many people start it, which result is shown and whether the answers are sent, with no answers, IP address or identifier. If you choose to send your answers, they go into the enquiry form on the page for you to send. Our privacy policy explains this.
For the full requirements, read our subclass 482 guide.
Want your 482 stream confirmed?
Provide us with the occupation, the salary offered, your work history and your current visa. We can confirm the stream and what has to be in place before the nomination and the application are lodged.
