South Australia’s two designated area migration agreements now run to 31 January 2027

Migration South Australia has published that the State’s two designated area migration agreements have been extended for a further four months, to 31 January 2027, while negotiations conclude on a new five-year statewide agreement. The agreements had previously been extended to 30 September 2026.

The State’s notice of 21 September 2026 records that “the current terms and conditions of both DAMAs remain unchanged since the last variation in June 2026”. It also states that further announcements on the new five-year agreement, and on the transition arrangement, will be made once negotiations have concluded.

What this means for a nomination in progress

A designated area migration agreement sets the occupations, the concessions and the terms a South Australian employer may nominate under. An extension on unchanged terms means the occupation lists and concessions that applied before 30 September 2026 continue to apply, and a nomination being prepared against them does not need to be rebuilt.

The announcement is the State’s. The endorsement and nomination steps still run through Migration South Australia and then the Department of Home Affairs in the usual way.
