Core Skills Occupation List for the subclass 482 visa: LIN 24/089
LIN 24/089 sets the Core Skills Occupation List of 456 occupations for the Core Skills stream of the subclass 482 (Skills in Demand) visa, and the 16 circumstances in which a listed occupation does not apply to a position.
The Migration (Specification of Occupations–Subclass 482 Visa) Instrument 2024 (LIN 24/089) was made on 6 December 2024 by the Assistant Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs under subregulation 2.72(9) of the Migration Regulations 1994 (section 3). It commenced on 7 December 2024 and repealed LIN 19/048. This page describes Compilation No. 3, in force from 7 November 2025, which includes amendments made by three instruments: the Migration Amendment (Caveats) Specification 2024, LIN 24/083 and the Migration Amendment (Skilled Visa Reform Technical Measures) Instrument 2025 (Endnote 3).
The explanatory statement says the instrument specifies the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) for the Core Skills stream of the subclass 482 (Skills in Demand) visa, which replaced the Temporary Skill Shortage visa on 7 December 2024, and that The single list replaces the previous three occupations lists that applied under the TSS visa.
It records that the CSOL comprises 456 occupations, against 509 under the previous TSS visa.
The Core Skills Occupation List
Section 6(3) sets out the list. It has 456 items and three columns: occupation title, 6-digit ANZSCO code, and an applicable circumstance number referring to section 7(2). The first item is Chief Executive or Managing Director (111111) and the last is Retail Buyer (639211). Under section 6(1)(c) an occupation applies to a Core Skills stream nominee if the tasks to be performed correspond to the tasks in the ANZSCO code for the occupation. Section 4 specifies ANZSCO as the classification published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics as in force on 23 November 2022. The full list is in the instrument.
Column 3 is filled in for 34 of the 456 items. Under section 6(2), where a circumstance numbered in column 3 applies to the position, the occupation does not apply to the nominee.
